Making Boulder more pedestrian friendly
I walk and bike often in Boulder. Generally I find that Boulder is pedestrian- and bike-friendly, with the exception of the crossing at Iris and 13th. There is no stoplight and no blinking lights and it is rare for cars to stop at that crosswalk. I have often waved my arms and gestured to cars to stop and 6 or 7 cars will speed by before one car stops. What is most dangerous about that particular crossing is that there are 3 lanes for pedestrians to cross. Often, one car will stop one lane of traffic, but cars in the next lane do not stop, so pedestrians are stuck part way across the road! I really hope that a safer, more effective crossing will be put into place before someone is hit by a car.
