Ann"s Story - Streets Prioritized For Pedestrians
Parts of Boulder are wonderful places to experience the outdoors on foot. The city's mountain trails and greenways are some of the best anywhere. Boulder's great trail system and the fact that my family and I can walk to about everything we need makes this city a special place for us to live. I especially appreciate that I can walk to the majority of places where I volunteer, easily access parks with my granddaughter and even get my 102 year old mom out a little. With all that said, now is the time to make Boulder a far more walkable city, where many more of our streets are truly prioritized for pedestrians so that all of us feel safer and more comfortable walking throughout the city, no matter what our age or abilities. Let's create a city where the pedestrian system is so excellent that we see far more people walking the streets and enjoying a highly invigorated public realm during all hours of the day and night. Streets are public spaces and we can design them so they function well for all modes of transportation. Let's make our entire city street system welcoming to pedestrians and strongly focus on designing for people on foot. Thank you.
